My fellow citizens: 친애하는 국민 여러분

I stand here today 오늘 이 자리에 섰습니다.

humbled by the task before us, 우리 앞의 일을 겸허히 받아들이며

grateful for the trust you have bestowed(부여하다), 여러분이 부여한 믿음을 감사하며

mindful of the sacrifices borne(가지고 오다) by our ancestors. 선조들이 희생한 정신을 가지고

I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, 나는 부시가 나라를 위해 고생한 거 땡뀨다

as well as the generosity(너그러움) and cooperation 또한 인수 과정에서 보여줌 배려와 협력도

he has shown throughout this transition(이행).

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath(선서). 44명의 미국인이 취임 선언했다

The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity(번영) 선서는 번영의 조류 속에

and the still waters of peace. 그리고 평화의 물결 속에 말해졌다.

Yet, every so often 허나, 많은 경우

the oath is taken amidst(으로 에워싸인) gathering clouds 선서는 안개와

and raging(격렬한) storms. 격렬한 폭풍 속에서 행해졌다.

At these moments, America has carried on not simply 최근에 미국은 쉽지 않게 살아왔다.

because of the skill or vision of those in high office, 높은 곳의 사람들의 기술과 비전

but because We 이 아니라 왜냐면 우리

the People 여러분

have remained faithful(신뢰할 수 있는) to the ideals of our forebearers, 선조들의 이상과

and true to our founding documents. 건국 문서를 신뢰했기에

So it has been. 그래왔듯이

So it must be with this generation of Americans 이 세대도 그래야합니다. 

That we are in the midst(한가운데) of crisis is now well understood. 우리는 위기에 있고 이해한다
